Jump Start

Here are some pictures of the kids in my Jump Start class. For those of you that don't know what that means, Jump Start is basically pre-kindergarten. It is two weeks where the kids come and begin to get into the routine of school and get to know their potential teacher. It is also a hint for the mothers to cut the umbilical cord and let their "baby" grow up. I am working with a kindergarten teacher who pretty much does all the work I just remind the kids of how to act, sing along, read to them, and herd them around. It is fun and hilarious. They don't say a lot of funny things because they speak mostly Spanish but the things they do are so awesome. The first day we went to the computer lab was just astounding. I actually watched a kid push the mouse around with his thumb and once he got it to where we wanted it, he would dive-bomb the button with his pointer finger. Geez.

Anyway, here are the pictures. They are very cute and little.

Here are some boys reading some books. Close-up on the boy with the mohawk later...

These two kids are very deliberate children. They are easily the last ones done no matter what project we are doing.

Alexandria is a little doll. She had some trouble letting her mom go the first few days but she has adjusted nicely. She can be heard saying good-morning to each of her table mates and saying things like "why thank you, Maria." She also responded to someone saying thank you to her with a "of course."

Jose's sister was in my class last year.

More reading.

There's that mohawk. Who cuts their kids hair like that?????? Maybe you can shine some light on this Penny..

Here is Elena. She looks cute but don't be fooled she has clearly been babied extensively and refuses to follow directions.

Emily made a beautiful castle during math time today.

This group is working on some patterns.

I stumbled upon a very interesting blog today. Check it out here. If you love animal stories they way I do...this one's for you.

Love,
Miss Bee

On mohawks: I think it's a dad wanting to live out something through they're child, but for normal people we don't know what that something is.
