Code Red

Today was, as one of Mr. S.'s kindergartner's said, a terrible horrible no good very bad day.

To start off, we had grade level meetings this morning to discuss how we were going to address a state department requirement that we use our curriculum with fidelity. What that means is that as a grade level we had to commit to teaching certain things at the same time and assessing them in the same way. Well, my team is interesting b.c we are a group divided. Two vs. three where two is a majority and three is something very useless like your discarded toe nails. The two of them should just meet, forge our signatures on things, and let us have our morning prep. Anyway, we met, they were really bossy and had really obviously already discussed what they wanted done and had all but filled the paperwork out. They had even cleared it with the principal. I guess they don't realize that they have to walk past our classrooms to get to the office and easily could have talked with us about it too. Is that normal? Should two teachers really have that much control and be that rude to the other younger teachers?

I was so frustrated this morning especially because I had been really trying to make friends with these teachers to unite our team a little bit. It was kind of a slap in the face but at the same time..who was I kidding. No one who asks me every time I approach her if I "need her for something" is ever going to really be my friend.

Then at about 11:25, five minutes before our lunch the asst. principal gets on the announcements to call a code red which she then explained meant full lockdown. Fun. Apparently someone had shot someone in front of school and little kids had seen it go down and who knew what was coming next. So we hung out in our room, cleaned our desks, tried not to need the white pee bucket... We had lunch late and then had an extended indoor recess involving movies and the three toe nails discussing our revenge after today's horrible morning meeting.

That's it for the news...
Goodnight and have a pleasant tomorrow.

Love,
Miss Bee.
