When is Center Time?

I declare center time a success. The kids like it and they are being very studious and funny about it. Especially the clean-up time.

Today I handed out their "data masters" books (the books they are going to use to make the weekly graphs), and the kids went absolutely nuts about them. They were so excited and they kept saying things like "wow, I love these books," and "this is really awesome." Hopefully they will still think it is fun as we do the work that goes along with the books.

I want to have them make their own little word walls on file folders. And I also want them to have a book where they "rainbow" write their words each week. Neither of those would be very hard to make and I think they would really emphasis these words that they HAVE to know by the end of first grade. It is just so hard to get them excited about knowing the word "had" or "what."

Oh, and today I started really talking about the /th/ sound. We were sticking our tongues out and singing a silly song and getting really into it and I accidently really confused them about the word the. So tomorrow I will have to make sure they know that the is just different and you can't sound it out the way you do other words. Oops!

Here are the pictures from the pumpkin carving.

Love,
Ms. Bee

Cool pics....thanks for putting them up. Showed to the gang here at work. Made them my background but it is a little fuzzy. Good job on getting one of Mom!

Love you.....
